This simple and easy to make chaat recipe is not just tasty but healthy too, with the goodness of Makhanas. It is extremely easy to prepare and only minimum cooking is required. This easy recipe is an amazing healthy option when you are craving to binge in unhealthy food. You can garnish this with nuts and berries, pomegranates to make it more nutritious. Enjoy this lip-smacking snack or appetizer with tamarind or green chutney.
2 cups makhanas
1 cup Yogurt
1/2 tsp chaat masala
Salt, to taste
For Green Chutney
1 cup Coriander leaves, chopped
1 cup Mint Leaves, chopped
2 cloves garlic
2 Green Chillies
2 tablespoons Lemon juice
Salt, to taste
For Date Chutney
1 ½ cups Dates, pitted and chopped
2 tablespoons Tamarind Paste
2 tablespoons Jaggery
1 tsp ginger powder
Pinch of asafetida
1/2 tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp roasted cumin powder
Step 1 : To prepare the green chutney
In a blender, add 1 cup of roughly chopped coriander leaves, garlic, mint leaves, green chilli, lemon juice, water and salt to taste.
Step 2 : To make the tamarind chutney
Pour 3 cups of water in a pan; add tamarind, dates and jaggery powder. Start boiling the mixture. Let it boil for 5 minutes on medium to high flame.
Add ginger powder, asafetida, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder and roasted cumin powder to the tamarind mixture, keep stirring it.
Boil it on low flame till the tamarind and dates have softened and the mixture thickens a little. Cool the mixture and blend it in the mixer.
Step 3 :
Next, roast makhana along with chaat masala and 1 tsp of red chilli powder for a few minutes in a pan.
Step 4 :
Once the chutneys and makhana are ready, take a bowl and mix the curd and roasted makhana together.
Step 5 :
Then, sprinkle some salt and add the tamarind and green chutney as per your taste.
Step 6 :
Garnish with coriander leaves, nuts and pomegranate.
