Crunchy and Delicious homemade vegan cutlets made with raw jackfruit is an easy recipe to prepare and a healthy snack for your kids and all age groups. This cutlet is slightly crisp on the outside with the layer of bread crumbs. The coating of bread crumbs give the cutlets a fascinating texture thtat is sure to please you. All in all it is an appetizer which will be a treat for your eyes as well as your tummy.
2 cups of boiled jackfruit, shredded
1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
1/2 cup of finely chopped onion
1 tablespoon of finely chopped ginger
1 sprig of curry leaves
1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
2 green chillies, chopped
1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder
1/2 teaspoon of garam masala
Salt, to taste
2 tablespoons of whole wheat flour
1 cup of bread crumbs
2 tablespoons of oil
Oil, for shallow frying
Steps to Make Jackfruit Cutlets
In a pan, add 2 tablespoons of oil. Once hot, add the chopped onion, ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, curry leaves, coriander leaves and salt. Sauté it until the onion turns soft.
Add the cooked jackfruit and mashed potatoes to the pan. Mix and cook it for 2 minutes.
Once the mix cools down a little, take the mixture into equal portions and shape them into cutlets with your oil greased hands.
Heat a tawa, pour a little oil on it. Once hot, turn down the heat to medium-low.
In a bowl, take the flour and add water to it to form a batter (not too thick, nor too runny).
Dip each cutlet into the batter and then roll it in the breadcrumbs and shallow fry it the oil until till both the sides are evenly golden and crispy. Drain on absorbent paper.
