Excessive diarrhea and vomiting, and the resulting severe dehydration, can cause an imbalance in these electrolytes, which is potentially dangerous if left untreated. Avoid sports drinks, sodas which tend to be higher in sugar and lower in electrolytes.
When an upset stomach is accompanied by vomiting or diarrhea, be sure to hydrate and replenish electrolytes. Avoid eating brown rice as it can be hard for your stomach to digest. Brown, or black rice — generally healthy — are harder to digest, especially on an upset stomach. White rice, being a refined carbohydrate, is also low in fibre and will help to stop the common symptoms of diarrhoea. 9. Plain toast
A slice of toast like plain rice is low in fibre and is perfect for a sensitive stomach. It will take away your hunger pangs while easing the digestion by soaking toxins.
10. Sweet or White Potatoes
Potatoes, both sweet and the regular variety, are packed with nutrients like magnesium, potassium, and B6, all of which reduce stomach cramps.
1. As always, never skip your breakfast. Grab a banana and switch to herbal or mint tea for a while. Drink coconut water. It is nature’s way to heal a delicate stomach.
2. Buttermilk helps the friendly bacteria to enhance digestion. You may add a pinch of rock salt to your buttermilk. Additionally, oatmeal is another option to relieve stomach upset.
3. Don’t eat fried foods. These have lots of oil and fat, so they’re harder to digest. Fried foods aren’t great for you even when you’re healthy, but they can make an already upset stomach even worse.
4. If your body is rejecting solid foods, don’t force yourself to eat. Instead, consume semi-solid foods.
