Tamarind Candy or Imli Ki Goli is a type of candy made from the fruit of the tamarind tree. Tamarind candy is known for having a sweet and sour taste.
My favorite candy when I was a kid, it is a most common in India, available in all grocery shop. This tamarind pulp candy is delicious, has a very tangy taste and healthy. It is a candy treat that is sure to satisfy any craving.
People who enjoy tamarind candy often choose to make it at home rather than purchasing it. The candy can be made using tamarind paste, jaggery, and some spices and then coated in sugar. I have used jaggery in this recipe, as it is one of the healthier options as sweetener. You can use any other sweetener.
But ever wondered why imli goli or the tamarind candy is served after meals in India? More than just being a treat to the taste buds, it has many benefits.
