Dates – 200 gms
Water – as required for soaking
Steps to make Dates Syrup
Chop your dates into small pieces. Soak your dates in boiled hot water for 20 minutes.
Finely blend the dates in a blender along with small amount of soaked water.
Using muslin cloth or cheese cloth, we need to strain the mixture carefully, thereby extracting date syrup water. Squeeze all of the water from the cooked dates really well. Now, repeat the same procedure one more time and extract the dates syrup water.
Transfer the strained dates syrup water to a saucepan and allow it to boil ill it reaches the thickness of honey. Stir continuously on a medium flame to prevent the sticky bottom.
It is highly advisable to remove the syrup from the flame before it gets very thick, as the cooked contents tend to thicken some more after cooling.
Delicious and healthy dates syrup is ready to serve.
Date syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for several weeks. You can use this date syrup as a sweetener to make so many recipes like – smoothies, pancakes, crepes, muffins, or whatever. It is also incredible in coffee where the caramel flavor really shines.
