How to make Spinach Dhokla
To make this recipe, soak the pigeon peas for 6-7 hours. Then put this soaked pigeon peas along with yogurt in a blender to make a fine paste. Take out the mixture in a bowl and keep it aside.
Now, transfer the mixture in a bowl and add spinach puree, asafoetida, chopped grren chilles, lemon juice, salt, sugar, fruit salt. Mix thoroughly.
Next, grease the steaming tin or pan with oil and pour the batter in it and put the pan into a steamer. Steam it for 10-20 minutes. A toothpick inserted in the dhokla should come out clean. Once it is cooked carefully remove the prepared dhokla from the steamer. Cut into desired shapes.
If you don’t have a steamer, you can use a large pot or pressure cooker. Take 3 cups water and place a stand inside. Keep the pot or pressure cooker on medum-low flame and let the water come to a boil. And then place the pan on the stand inside the pot or cooker. Cover with lid and allow it to steam on medium flame for 20 minutes. In case of pressure cooker, remove the whistle from the lid.
Take a small kadhai and add oil in it. Once the oil is heated add mustard seeds, chilies and curry leaves. Stir for a while and add the dhokla pieces. Your Spinach Dhokla is ready to eat. Serve hot with any chutney of your choice.
