Oxidative damage is believed to be one of the mechanisms behind ageing and many diseases. It involves free radicals, highly reactive molecules with unpaired electrons. Antioxidants are beneficial as they protect your body from free radicals.
Curcumin is a potent antioxidant that can neutralize free radicals due to its chemical structure. In addition, curcumin boosts the activity of your body’s own antioxidant enzymes.
Chronic low-grade inflammation is one of the distinctive characteristics of a PCOS diagnosis and is responsible for many of our unwanted symptoms. From unfair weight gain and cardiovascular disease risks to infertility, hirutism, and acne, inflammation plays a key role throughout. But, curcumin can combat this inflammation.
A study suggests that curcumin can decrease the level of glucose in the blood, as well as other diabetes-related complications. Researchers also found that curcumin may have a role in diabetes prevention. More clinical trials with humans are needed for a better understanding of curcumin and turmeric’s effects.
